Olympic Refugee Breakdancer Disqualified for Political Slogan
Manizha Talash, a breakdancer from the Olympic Refugee Team, was disqualified for wearing a cape with the slogan “Free Afghan Women.” The World DanceSport Federation cited a violation of Rule 50 of the Olympic Charter, which bans political statements. Talash, who fled Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, had been determined to use her platform to advocate for Afghan girls.
