Muslim gba wa jade (121) lati odo Amr ibn Al-Aas, ki Olohun yonu si e, o so pe: Nigbati Olohun fi Islam si okan mi, mo de odo Anabi, mo si so pe: : Na ọwọ ọtun rẹ ki emi ki o le jẹri fun ọ. Nítorí náà, ó na ọwọ́ ọ̀tún rẹ̀ ó sì wí pé: Nítorí náà, mo di ọwọ́ mi. O wipe: Kini o sele fun yin, Amr? O ni: Mo ni: Mo fe se ilana. O wipe: Kini o pala? Mo ni: Ki a le dariji mi. O sope: Nje e ko mo wipe Islam pa ohun ti o wa siwaju re je bi?
من فضل الله ورحمته أن جعل الإسلام هادماً لما كان قبله من الذنوب والمعاصي ، فإذا أسلم الكافر غفر الله له كل ما فعله أيام كفره ، وصار نقياً من الذنوب .
روى مسلم (121) عن عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ رضي الله عنه قال : لَمَّا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الإِسْلامَ فِي قَلْبِي أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : ابْسُطْ يَمِينَكَ فَلأُبَايِعْكَ . فَبَسَطَ يَمِينَهُ ، قَالَ : فَقَبَضْتُ يَدِي . قَالَ : مَا لَكَ يَا عَمْرُو ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَشْتَرِطَ . قَالَ : تَشْتَرِطُ بِمَاذَا ؟ قُلْتُ : أَنْ يُغْفَرَ لِي . قَالَ : أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ الإِسْلامَ يَهْدِمُ مَا كَانَ قَبْلَهُ .
It is from God’s grace and mercy that He made Islam annihilating the sins and transgressions that came before it. If an infidel converts to Islam, God will forgive him everything he did during the days of his disbelief, and he will become clean from sins. Muslim narrated (121) on the authority of Amr ibn Al-Aas, may God be pleased with him, who said: When God placed Islam in my heart, I came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: Extend your right hand so that I may pledge allegiance to you. So he extended his right hand and said: So I clasped my hand. He said: What is the matter with you, Amr? He said: I said: I wanted to stipulate. He said: What do you stipulate? I said: That I may be forgiven. He said: Did you not know that Islam destroys what came before it?
